Job description
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Leicester, starting as soon as possible. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young children in their first stage of formal education and helping them develop essential skills for lifelong learning. The school has a strong child-centred ethos with a focus on inclusion, collaboration, and pupil wellbeing. Staff work together to create a safe, structured, and stimulating learning environment where every child feels confident, supported, and motivated to learn. Senior leadership is approachable and provides mentoring, guidance, and professional development opportunities to ensure staff can excel in their roles. The Role As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support the learning and development of children in Nursery and Reception. You will assist with delivering engaging lessons, supporting children individually and in small groups, and creating a positive, structured learning environment that encourages independence, curiosity, and confidence. You will observe and monitor children’s progress, contribute to assessments, and help implement interventions to meet individual learning needs. Collaboration with colleagues and communication with parents is essential to ensure each child receives personalised support and guidance. Key Responsibilities Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality EYFS lessons and activities Assist children in developing social, emotional, and academic skills Provide individual and small group support as needed Promote early communication, language, literacy, and numeracy skills Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and confidence Observe and contribute to assessments of children’s progress Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment Support daily routines, transitions, and personal care as required Build strong, positive relationships with children, parents, and staff Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and whole-school initiatives Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times Who We’re Looking For The ideal candidate will: Have experience working in an EYFS or early years setting Be patient, caring, and enthusiastic Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills Be proactive, reliable, and adaptable Have a good understanding of the EYFS framework Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and child wellbeing Location The school is located in Leicester, with excellent transport links and a supportive local community.
