Job description
A high-achieving 11–18 school in Southend-on-Sea is seeking an inspirational and experienced Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) to lead their successful department from January 2026. This full-time, permanent leadership role offers the opportunity to shape language education in a school where academic achievement and global awareness are highly valued. About the Role The successful candidate will lead a talented team delivering French and Spanish across KS3–KS5, overseeing curriculum design, assessment, and staff development. You will ensure high standards of teaching, drive pupil engagement, and inspire linguistic curiosity and cultural appreciation across the school community. In addition to your teaching timetable, you will be responsible for mentoring teachers within the department, monitoring progress data, and expanding international partnerships and language immersion programmes.
