Job description
A friendly and well-organised 11–18 secondary school in the Chesterfield area is seeking an enthusiastic Early Career Teacher of Geography to join its Humanities faculty. This role offers an excellent foundation for an ECT looking to develop strong classroom practice in a school with clear systems, supportive mentoring and a genuine commitment to professional growth. The Opportunity You will teach Geography across Key Stages 3 and 4, following a carefully structured curriculum that balances physical and human geography with strong geographical skills. Lessons emphasise enquiry, real-world case studies and the development of confident written and verbal explanations. Shared schemes of work, assessments and resources allow you to focus on delivery, questioning and student understanding. There is a strong emphasis on building fieldwork confidence over time, with local studies and structured support to help ECTs develop this area of practice. ECT Induction & Support The school has a proven record of supporting Early Career Teachers and provides a well-planned induction programme, including: A reduced timetable during your induction year A dedicated Geography mentor with regular coaching and feedback Structured CPD sessions focused on behaviour, pedagogy and assessment Opportunities to observe experienced Humanities teachers Support is practical, consistent and tailored to help you grow steadily in confidence and impact.
