Job description
Support Pupils and Make a Difference in Key Stage 2 We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and patient KS2 Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school in Bristol, starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced teachers and help pupils in Key Stage 2 (Years 3–6) achieve their full potential. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting both academic learning and the social, emotional, and personal development of pupils. You will work with small groups, individual learners, and sometimes the whole class to ensure that lessons run smoothly, all pupils are supported, and learning objectives are met. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with children, providing tailored support, and contributing to a positive classroom environment. As a KS2 Teaching Assistant, you will be part of a collaborative team that values your contribution and expertise, and you will receive support and guidance to develop professionally in your role. Key Responsibilities Support pupils in accessing the KS2 curriculum, both in class and in small group interventions Assist with literacy and numeracy tasks, including reading support, writing, and maths activities Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment Work collaboratively with class teachers to implement lesson plans and provide feedback on pupil progress Support pupils with additional needs, including SEND, EAL, or those requiring targeted interventions Supervise pupils during structured activities, break times, and lunchtime as required Encourage positive behaviour, social skills, and independence Assist with the preparation and organisation of classroom resources Maintain accurate records of pupil progress, interventions, and support provided This role allows you to make a direct impact on pupils’ learning and confidence, ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive. Who We’re Looking For The ideal candidate will be: Experienced working with Key Stage 2 pupils in a school or educational setting Confident supporting pupils with diverse learning needs Patient, nurturing, and able to build strong relationships with children Organised, reliable, and able to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff Knowledgeable about safeguarding and committed to the welfare of all pupils Flexible and adaptable to the varying needs of a busy classroom environment No formal teaching qualification is required, though relevant experience and/or Level 3 education support qualifications are highly desirable.
