Job description
We are working with a high-achieving mixed secondary school in Islington recruiting for a Geography ECT. This is a flagship department known for its innovative approach to environmental enquiry and global citizenship. The School This Islington-based school has maintained its "Outstanding" status for over a decade. The school features state-of-the-art facilities, including modern open-plan faculty offices designed to foster teacher collaboration. Leadership is deeply committed to staff retention and wellbeing, offering a culture where professional autonomy is encouraged and administrative burdens are minimised. The ECT Experience The school’s induction programme is designed to ensure you feel supported but never overwhelmed. Your transition from trainee to professional is managed with precision and care. Reduced Timetable: Protected time for ECF modules and self-directed study, in addition to your standard PPA time. Instructional Coaching: Regular, low-stakes observations with high-frequency feedback to help you refine your craft rapidly. Wellbeing: A dedicated "Wellbeing Buddy" from outside your department to provide impartial pastoral support during your first two years. The Role & Department You will teach Physical and Human Geography at KS3 and KS4, with the potential to support A-Level cohorts for those with strong subject knowledge. Technology: The department is a leader in using GIS technology and digital mapping to bring modern geography to life in the classroom. Fieldwork: You will assist in coordinating urban studies within Islington and residential trips to the UK coast and abroad. Salary Range: £40,317 – £62,496 (M1 – UPS3)
