DT Technician – Good Secondary School – Sheffield Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School Information: This is an 11–18 Good Ofsted Rated School in Sheffield known for its strong academic progress, nurturing culture, and modern curriculum. DT Department: The Design & Technology department is a creative, high-energy space dedicated to hands-on learning, problem-solving, and technical skill development. The department offers resistant materials, product design, graphics, textiles, and engineering modules across KS3 and KS4. Workshops are equipped with laser cutters, 3D printers, CNC machines, woodworking equipment, metalwork tools, textiles facilities, and design software suites. As a DT Technician, you will work alongside a team of experienced teachers to ensure the workshops are safe, well-maintained, and fully resourced. You will prepare materials and equipment for practical lessons, maintain machinery, monitor stock, order supplies, and support students during technical activities. The department values innovation, safety, and precision, and technicians play a crucial role in the smooth running of all practical sessions. Requirements: • Previous experience in a DT or workshop environment (school experience advantageous). • Knowledge of materials, tools, and machinery including laser cutters and 3D printers. • Strong understanding of workshop health and safety standards. • Good organisational skills and ability to multitask. • Practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills. • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and students.
