Job description
Enfield, London £90–£105 per day Full-time, Long-term with potential for permanency Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm (term time only) Start: ASAP Some children don’t just need help learning — they need someone who sees them, understands them, and supports them exactly where they are. Someone calm, patient, and consistent. Someone who celebrates the small steps, not just the big ones. I’m working with a welcoming and inclusive SEND school in Enfield, and they are seeking a compassionate, reliable SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. The school works with pupils who have a range of needs including Autism, ADHD, speech and language delays, sensory processing needs, learning difficulties, and SEMH needs. The pupils are curious, capable, and full of potential. What makes the biggest difference for them is structure, understanding, and adults who genuinely care. This is a setting where staff stay calm, stay consistent, and never stop believing in their pupils. Your role will include: • Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups across a range of SEND needs • Adapting activities to suit individual learning styles and EHCP targets • Using visual supports, routines, and structured strategies to aid understanding • Helping pupils regulate emotions, manage transitions, and stay engaged • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and therapists • Supporting communication development using appropriate tools (PECS, basic Makaton, visuals) • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive social interaction • Creating a calm, safe, and nurturing environment where pupils feel secure What the school provides: • A warm, skilled, and incredibly patient staff team • Regular training in Autism, communication strategies, and trauma-informed practice • Clear progression pathways for candidates wanting to move into SEN, pastoral roles, or teaching • A leadership team that prioritises wellbeing, teamwork, and ongoing professional development • A collaborative environment where every member of staff is valued This role is ideal for someone who: • Has experience working with children with SEND, or is eager to learn • Is patient, observant, and able to remain calm under pressure • Uses empathy and structure to support pupils with complex needs • Truly believes every child deserves understanding, opportunity, and consistent support • Wants to make a meaningful difference in a child’s school experience If this SEN Teaching Assistant position sounds like the right fit for you, please apply today or contact Wayman Education for more information.
