Art Technician – Outstanding Secondary School – Brighton Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale** School Information This Outstanding Ofsted-rated secondary school in Brighton is widely celebrated for its exceptional Creative Arts provision. The school fosters a stimulating environment where students are encouraged to explore, create, and develop their artistic talents. The Art Department is housed in a dedicated creative block equipped with light-filled studios, digital design suites, ceramic facilities, and specialist equipment. The department has a strong track record of excellent GCSE and A-Level results, with many pupils progressing to top art colleges and design-focused careers. The school now requires a creative and highly organised Art Technician to support the smooth running of the department. Role Information The Art Technician will assist teachers across KS3–KS5 by preparing materials, setting up workshops, maintaining equipment, organising storage, supporting exhibitions, and assisting with student projects. This includes tasks such as mounting work, kiln operation (training provided), ordering supplies, handling artwork for displays, and ensuring the studios are clean, safe, and well-organised. The role requires creativity, excellent practical skills, and the ability to work with a variety of artistic mediums including paint, clay, textiles, mixed media, and digital tools. You will also support whole-school arts events, exhibitions, and open evenings. Requirements • Experience working in an art, creative, or workshop environment • Strong practical skills across various art materials and processes • Good organisational skills and attention to detail • Ability to support students and teachers in a busy creative department • Knowledge of health and safety within workshop/studio settings • A proactive, enthusiastic, and creative approach Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
