Job description
A well-regarded independent school in York is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join its successful department from April 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to teach motivated pupils in a calm, academically focused environment where small class sizes and high expectations support outstanding teaching and learning. Science is a valued and well-established subject within the school, with strong outcomes at GCSE and A Level and a clear emphasis on both conceptual understanding and practical application. The Role Teaching Science across KS3 and KS4, with KS5 depending on specialism Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons Supporting pupils with practical investigations and exam preparation Encouraging scientific enquiry, analytical thinking, and independent study Contributing to enrichment activities and wider school life Working collaboratively within a supportive and well-resourced Science department The Ideal Candidate Will Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification A degree in a Science subject or closely related field Experience teaching Science at secondary level Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics High expectations for pupil engagement and academic progress A professional, organised, and positive teaching approach School Information This independent school in York is known for its strong academic standards, excellent pastoral care, and supportive leadership.
