Job description
DT Technician – Good Secondary School – Exeter Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School Information This Good 11–18 secondary school in Exeter is known for its strong technical education provision, well-resourced facilities, and structured leadership systems. The school has invested significantly in its Design & Technology department, including modern workshops, specialist machinery, and CAD/CAM technology. The school serves a diverse community and prides itself on delivering practical, skills-based learning that prepares students for further study and apprenticeships. Behaviour across the school is positive, and systems are clear and well managed. The school is now seeking a knowledgeable and organised DT Technician to support the department’s practical delivery. Role Overview The DT Technician will provide essential technical support across Design & Technology disciplines including Resistant Materials, Product Design, and Engineering. Key responsibilities include: Preparing materials and equipment for practical lessons Maintaining machinery and workshop tools Conducting routine safety checks Managing stock control and ordering supplies Supporting teachers during practical sessions Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations Assisting with risk assessments Maintaining workshop organisation and cleanliness Supporting GCSE coursework preparation Monitoring equipment servicing schedules This role requires strong practical knowledge and attention to safety. Design & Technology Department The department delivers KS3–KS5 courses and benefits from well-equipped workshops and CAD facilities. The technician is central to maintaining safe and effective practical learning. Candidate Requirements Experience working in a workshop or technical environment Knowledge of health and safety procedures in practical settings Organised and methodical approach Ability to maintain machinery and tools Strong attention to detail Reliable and proactive attitude Commitment to student safety Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
