Job description
Our client is looking for an Early Career Teacher (ECT) of Art to join a highly successful secondary school in Birmingham. This is a full-time position starting in September 2026, with excellent support and mentoring provided to help you launch your teaching career. ECT Art Teacher required to work on a full-time basis Outstanding mixed secondary school in Birmingham Join a thriving and well-resourced Art department with a structured ECT induction programme This is an excellent opportunity for a creative and enthusiastic new teacher to begin their career in a school with a strong reputation for high achievement and pupil progress. The successful candidate will deliver Art across KS3 and KS4, and contribute to extra-curricular activities such as exhibitions and creative clubs. Experience and Qualifications ECT Art Teacher (PGCE or equivalent completed) Passion for teaching Art and Design with a strong subject knowledge Commitment to professional growth and willingness to learn from experienced colleagues Legal ability to work within the UK School Information This large 11–16 secondary school in Birmingham has been rated Outstanding by Ofsted and is heavily oversubscribed, reflecting its excellent reputation within the local community. The school has a diverse and vibrant student body, with behaviour and engagement consistently praised by inspectors. Academic results are strong, with Progress 8 consistently above national averages. In 2023, a significant majority of students achieved grades 9–4 in both English and Maths, with creative subjects such as Art also achieving excellent outcomes. The Art department is well-equipped, with specialist studios, digital design facilities, and strong links to local galleries and cultural organisations. Staff benefit from a collaborative and supportive environment, with a structured induction and mentoring programme for ECTs, high-quality CPD, and opportunities to take on wider responsibilities once confidence has developed.
