Job description
Our client is seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to join a well-regarded mixed secondary school in Aylesbury. This is a full-time, permanent position starting January 2026, offering a varied and hands-on role within a supportive site and operations team. Rated Outstanding by Ofsted, the school places great importance on safety, safeguarding and maintaining a well-kept learning environment. The school benefits from modern facilities, well-maintained buildings and grounds, and a collaborative staff culture. The site team plays a vital role in the smooth daily operation of the school, working closely with leadership, staff, contractors and external agencies. The Role The School Caretaker will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, security and upkeep of the school site. This is a practical and varied role requiring reliability, attention to detail and a proactive approach to health and safety. Key responsibilities will include: Opening and securing the school buildings Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and site checks Supporting health and safety compliance and reporting issues Assisting with room setups for events and activities Liaising with contractors and supervising works on site Candidate Profile Experience in a caretaking, maintenance or facilities role (school experience desirable) Practical skills in basic repairs and site maintenance Good understanding of health and safety procedures Reliable, organised and able to work independently Professional and approachable manner when working around students and staff Strong commitment to safeguarding and site security Salary and Benefits Competitive salary in line with experience, ongoing training opportunities, and a supportive working environment within a respected school community.
