Data Officer – Outstanding Secondary School, Bournemouth Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School information: This is an 11 to 18 well-established, Outstanding Ofsted Rated Secondary School in Bournemouth with a strong commitment to high academic standards, student wellbeing and continuous school improvement. The school values efficient systems and high-quality data management, recognising how essential accurate, accessible data is in driving strategic decisions, intervention planning and student progress. Data Management Team: The Data Officer will join a well-established, organised and friendly data and assessment team. The department plays a vital role in ensuring the school’s progress tracking, reporting, analysis and statutory returns are accurate and delivered to the highest standards. The team works closely with senior leadership, Heads of Year, Heads of Department, exams staff, pastoral teams and the SEND department to ensure data is effectively used to support teaching, learning and whole-school strategy. The school uses modern digital systems, and the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and improving data workflows. The role includes responsibility for managing assessment data, updating the MIS system, producing progress reports, analysing trends, preparing data dashboards, supporting performance reviews, processing census data and ensuring compliance with statutory reporting. You will work closely with teachers to ensure assessment information is accurately recorded and accessible. This position is ideal for someone with an analytical mindset, excellent attention to detail and a passion for ensuring high-quality data supports school improvement. Requirements • Experience working with data systems, ideally within a school environment • Strong IT skills, including advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data validation) • Experience using school MIS systems such as SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom (desirable) • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and present findings clearly • Excellent communication skills and a professional, calm approach • Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail, especially when handling sensitive information • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently when required • Commitment to safeguarding, GDPR compliance and confidentiality Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
