Job description
A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SENCO to lead and develop its Special Educational Needs provision. This is a key role within a supportive school community, offering the opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils’ outcomes and wellbeing. SENCO required Welcoming secondary school based in Portsmouth Whole-school responsibility for SEND provision The role involves leading SEND provision across KS3 and KS4, working closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, families, and external agencies to ensure pupils with additional needs are well supported and able to thrive. You will oversee EHCP processes, coordinate interventions, and champion inclusive practice across the school. Experience and Qualifications Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) NASENCO qualification (or willingness to complete within the required timeframe) Experience supporting students with SEND in a secondary setting Strong knowledge of EHCP processes and statutory SEND requirements Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and professionals A nurturing, proactive approach aligned with a welcoming school ethos School Information This Portsmouth-based school is known for its inclusive culture, supportive leadership team, and strong focus on student wellbeing.
