Finance Officer – Good School – Manchester Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School Information: This is a 4 to 18 Good Rated School located in the heart of Manchester. The school places high importance on operational strength, financial accuracy, and transparent reporting. Staff across all departments work collaboratively, and the finance team in particular plays a pivotal role in ensuring the school continues to grow sustainably while maintaining exceptional service to students and families. The leadership team values efficiency, integrity, and a proactive approach to financial oversight. Recently, the school has introduced improved budgeting systems, expanded digital finance tools, and strengthened auditing processes. This makes the Finance Department a modern, strategic, and exciting environment for a Finance Officer. Finance Department: The Finance Department manages budgeting, invoicing, payroll coordination, financial forecasting, audit preparation, purchasing, and financial compliance. As the Finance Officer, you will support the Finance Manager and School Business Manager in ensuring that all financial processes run smoothly, accurately, and efficiently. Key responsibilities include: • Processing invoices, purchase orders, and payment runs. • Managing accounts payable and receivable. • Supporting payroll administration. • Assisting with budget monitoring and departmental spending. • Preparing reports for leadership and governors. • Handling school trip payments, parental billing, and financial queries. • Maintaining financial records in line with audit requirements. • Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and school policies. You will contribute to strengthening the financial health of the school while supporting staff, parents, and students with clarity, professionalism, and efficiency. Requirements: • Experience in financial administration (education sector desirable). • Strong numerical and analytical skills. • Proficiency with finance software and Excel. • Excellent organisational and time-management skills. • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping. • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly. • Confidence communicating with parents, staff, and external partners.
