Job description
Purpose & Scope of Role The School Business Manager (SBM) holds a key post of senior responsibility within the school. Reporting directly to the Head, the SBM is responsible for ensuring all financial and non-teaching aspects of the school run efficiently and effectively. The SBM is a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SMT) and is expected to contribute significantly to the continuous improvement of the school’s services. About the School Our client is a well-regarded Secondary school in Southampton, known for its supportive and professional environment. The school values strong leadership, financial accountability, and strategic planning, providing a stimulating and collaborative setting for staff. With modern facilities and a dedicated leadership team, this school offers an ideal environment for a finance professional to contribute to its continued success. About the Role We are seeking an experienced and proactive SBM Manager to join the school full-time on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will: Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting across the school Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable and payroll Prepare management accounts, forecasts, and financial statements Support the senior leadership team with strategic financial advice Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements Contribute to the smooth running and strategic development of the school Experience and Qualifications Qualifications in accounting such as Accounting Technician or qualified Accountant Managing strategic financial plans Managing budgets, financial reporting, procurement and fixed assets Financial analysis and reporting Managing and leading teams Working effectively with internal and external partners Application If you are a skilled and motivated finance professional looking to play a key role in a Secondary school environment, please send your CV as soon as possible to be considered for this full-time, permanent Finance Manager position in Southampton.
