Job description
  • Lead Practitioner of Maths required for a full-time, permanent role starting January 2026 • Ambitious 11–18 mixed secondary school with a thriving Sixth Form located in Slough • Opportunity to shape the strategic direction of Maths teaching across KS3–KS5 An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Lead Practitioner of Maths to join a progressive and high-achieving secondary school in Slough . The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and implementing outstanding teaching practices across the Mathematics department and wider school community. This role is ideal for an experienced Maths Teacher or current middle leader seeking to advance into a whole-school teaching and learning leadership position. The post holder will have a visible impact on curriculum design, pedagogy, and staff development, ensuring consistently high standards in student outcomes. School Information This Good and oversubscribed 11–18 school is widely recognised for its academic excellence and inclusive ethos. With a student roll exceeding 1,200 , the school combines high expectations with a nurturing approach that allows every learner to thrive. The Mathematics department is one of the school’s flagship areas, achieving consistently strong GCSE and A-Level results. In 2023, 83% of students achieved grades 9–4 in Maths , with exceptional A-Level outcomes and strong progression into STEM-related degree pathways. The department benefits from modern facilities, access to interactive technology , and a culture that embraces innovation and collaboration. Teachers are encouraged to share best practice through coaching sessions, peer observations, and departmental research projects. As Lead Practitioner of Maths , you will : Support the Head of Department in driving continuous improvement across Maths teaching and learning. Coach and mentor staff to deliver high-quality lessons. Model outstanding classroom practice and share innovative strategies. Contribute to whole-school CPD and staff development initiatives. Collaborate with SLT to enhance curriculum design and student progress. Experience and Qualifications • Qualified Maths Teacher with QTS (PGCE or equivalent). • Proven record of delivering outstanding outcomes across KS3–KS5. • Evidence of coaching, mentoring, or supporting colleagues’ professional growth. • Excellent knowledge of curriculum development and pedagogy. • Inspirational communicator with a passion for Mathematics education. • Legal right to work in the UK.
