Location: Enfield, North London Position: EYFS Teaching Assistant Contract Type: Full-Time | Term-Time Only Start Date: ASAP or Next Academic Term Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience School Overview This welcoming and inclusive primary school in Enfield has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality Early Years education with a particular focus on inclusion, early intervention, and emotional wellbeing. The EYFS provision is well-resourced and thoughtfully structured, offering a balance of child-initiated play and adult-led learning. The school places great importance on language development, positive behaviour, and strong relationships between staff, pupils, and families. Teaching Assistants are valued as key members of the EYFS team and are actively involved in daily routines, learning activities, and pupil support. Due to an increase in pupils requiring additional support in Nursery and Reception, the school is now seeking a caring and committed EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team. Role Purpose As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will support children aged 3–5 in Nursery and Reception, helping them to develop early communication, literacy, numeracy, and social skills. You will work closely with the class teacher and EYFS Lead to deliver engaging learning activities and provide targeted support to individual pupils. A significant part of this role involves supporting children with SEN , including autism, speech and language difficulties, developmental delay, and emotional or behavioural needs. You will help ensure that all children can access learning in a calm, safe, and inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities Support EYFS learning through structured activities and play-based learning Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils requiring additional help Support children with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, and communication needs Assist with phonics, early reading, mark-making, and early maths Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and independence Support daily routines such as transitions, carpet time, and snack time Assist with outdoor learning and physical development activities Observe, assess, and record children’s progress and achievements Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals Support children with personal care needs where required Maintain safeguarding, health, and safety procedures at all times The Ideal Candidate The school is seeking a nurturing, patient, and resilient individual with a genuine passion for Early Years and SEN support. You should demonstrate: Experience working in EYFS or early years settings Understanding of child development and the EYFS framework Experience or strong interest in supporting SEN pupils A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach Strong communication and teamwork skills Flexibility and resilience in a busy classroom environment Training and Career Development The school offers high-quality CPD, including: EYFS best practice and curriculum development SEN and autism awareness training Behaviour and emotional wellbeing strategies Safeguarding and child protection Clear progression pathways are available into SEN TA, HLTA, or teacher training roles.
