Job description
A highly regarded co-educational independent school in Birmingham is seeking an engaging and knowledgeable Teacher of Geography to join its successful Humanities faculty. This is an excellent opportunity to teach Geography in a setting where academic curiosity, global awareness and intellectual independence are actively encouraged. The Role You will teach Geography across Key Stages 3–5 , including GCSE and A-Level. The department places a strong emphasis on developing geographical thinking, enquiry skills and the ability to analyse complex global issues. Lessons are discussion-led and enquiry-focused, encouraging pupils to think critically about topics such as climate change, urban development, global inequality and physical landscapes. At A-Level, students are supported to develop sophisticated evaluation skills and independent research habits. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to curriculum development and enrichment as part of a forward-thinking Humanities team. The Geography Department Geography is a popular and well-established subject within the school, with strong uptake at both GCSE and A-Level. The department is academically ambitious but highly supportive, with a collaborative approach to planning and assessment. Fieldwork is an important part of the curriculum and is carefully planned to be meaningful and manageable. The department makes use of both local urban environments and residential fieldwork opportunities to support exam specifications.
