The Role As a Year 5 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons across all subjects of the curriculum, fostering resilience, independence, and positive learning behaviours. You will be responsible for tracking pupil progress, differentiating teaching to meet individual needs, and preparing pupils for the transition to Year 6. You will collaborate closely with teaching assistants, Key Stage 2 colleagues, and senior leaders to maintain high standards and consistency across the year group. You will also engage with parents and carers to provide regular feedback on pupil progress and support home–school learning partnerships. Key Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons across the Year 5 curriculum Track and monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL learners Promote independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours Maintain a structured, inclusive, and positive classroom environment Collaborate effectively with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues Communicate clearly with parents and carers about pupil progress Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and school improvement initiatives Support extracurricular activities and enrichment opportunities as required Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures at all times Who We’re Looking For The ideal candidate will: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Have experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally Year 5 Be confident delivering literacy, numeracy, and foundation subjects Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing Work collaboratively as part of a supportive and professional team What the School Offers A supportive and collaborative KS2 teaching team Clear guidance and leadership support Opportunities for professional development and CPD Well-resourced classrooms and learning spaces Engaged, motivated, and happy pupils A positive and inclusive school culture Location The school is based in Wimbledon, with excellent transport links and a welcoming local community.
