Job description
Art Technician – Independent Secondary School – Canterbury Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School Information This well-established independent 11–18 secondary school in Canterbury is known for its strong Creative Arts programme and high academic outcomes. The school maintains small class sizes, excellent facilities, and a supportive professional culture. The Art Department is a central feature of the school, offering a broad curriculum from KS3 to A Level. Facilities include specialist studios, kiln equipment, digital art resources, and exhibition spaces. The school is seeking a skilled and organised Art Technician to support the department’s practical delivery. Role Overview The Art Technician will provide technical and practical support across the Art department. Key responsibilities include: Preparing materials for practical lessons Managing stock and ordering supplies Maintaining kiln and specialist equipment Supporting students during practical sessions Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards Assisting with GCSE and A Level coursework preparation Maintaining studio organisation Supporting exhibitions and displays Managing equipment inventories Conducting routine safety checks The role requires strong organisational ability and practical knowledge. Art Department Structure The technician works alongside the Head of Art and teaching staff to ensure smooth delivery of practical lessons.
