Job description
English Teacher – Drive Academic Rigour in Language and Literature, Focusing on High-Level Analytical Writing – Essex A supportive and academically ambitious secondary school in Essex is seeking an experienced and inspiring Teacher of English with a focus on driving analytical rigour across both Language and Literature from January 2026. English Teacher required from January 2026 Essex-based school with a clear focus on academic mastery in English. Ideal for a teacher passionate about complex literary theory and high-level critical analysis across all key stages. You will teach English Language and Literature across KS3-KS5. The role includes planning rigorous lessons that deepen critical theory and analytical reading skills, with a focus on preparing students for challenging university-level study. Experience and Qualifications Qualified Teacher Status ( QTS ) and a relevant degree in English or Literature. Experience in a successful secondary school setting is highly advantageous. Demonstrable success in teaching challenging pre-1900 texts at A-Level. Commitment to contributing to the school's academic reading programme.
