Job description
A well-established independent day school in Nottinghamshire is seeking an accomplished and reflective Teacher of English to join its successful English department from January 2026. This school offers an academically rigorous education within a calm, purposeful and highly supportive environment. English plays a central role in the school’s curriculum and wider intellectual life, supporting pupils to become articulate, analytical and confident thinkers. The Role You will teach English across Key Stages 3 to 5 , including GCSE and A-Level English Language and Literature. Teaching here allows time for close reading, extended discussion and detailed written feedback. Key aspects of the role include: Teaching academically able, motivated pupils in small classes Delivering Literature and Language courses to GCSE and A-Level Encouraging independent interpretation, debate and extended writing Contributing to curriculum review and text selection Supporting enrichment such as reading societies, lectures or theatre visits The English Department The department is experienced, collegiate and intellectually ambitious.
