Job description
English Teacher required January 2026 Mixed secondary school based in North Leeds English Teacher to join a well-established and academically ambitious English department A forward-thinking secondary school in North Leeds is seeking an English Teacher to join its successful English department from January 2026. The role involves teaching KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to contribute to curriculum development and whole-school literacy initiatives. Role Overview The successful candidate will deliver engaging and structured English lessons, supporting students in developing strong analytical writing, reading comprehension and confident communication skills. The department operates shared schemes of work, collaborative planning sessions and consistent assessment practices. School Information This 11–16 school educates approximately 1,200 pupils and is recognised locally for its strong academic progress, calm learning environment and well-embedded behaviour systems. English is a core strength of the school, with outcomes consistently in line with or above national averages. Staff describe the school as organised, supportive and professionally focused. Leadership prioritises staff development, offering regular CPD, coaching and opportunities to take on additional responsibility over time.
