Job description
Location: York Start Date: January 2026 Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Competitive (Independent Scale) A leading independent co-educational school in York is seeking a French Teacher to join their Modern Languages department from January. About the School Languages are highly valued within the curriculum, supported by excellent resources, small classes, and a vibrant cultural programme. The school maintains a warm, inclusive, and academically ambitious environment. The Role • Teach French across KS3–KS5. • Deliver engaging lessons that support fluency and cultural understanding. • Participate in language trips, clubs, and enrichment activities. • Contribute to curriculum development and department planning. • Support assessment cycles and student progress. • Attend staff meetings and CPD sessions. Requirements • Strong knowledge of French language teaching. • Experience teaching A-level desirable. • Excellent planning, communication, and classroom skills. • Understanding of safeguarding and independent school expectations.
