Job description
A well-equipped secondary school in Walsall is seeking a reliable and skilled Food Technician to join its Technology Department. This is a full-time, permanent role available immediately, ideal for someone with practical food preparation experience, strong organisational skills, and the ability to support high-quality teaching and learning in a food and nutrition setting. About the School The school is recognised for its commitment to academic excellence and practical learning. The Food Department provides students with hands-on experience in food preparation, nutrition, and culinary techniques. Classrooms and kitchens are well-equipped with modern appliances, utensils, and resources, allowing students to learn safely and creatively. The Food Technician plays a crucial role in supporting teaching staff and students, ensuring lessons run smoothly and all equipment and resources are maintained to a high standard. Role Responsibilities As a Food Technician, your responsibilities will include: Preparing ingredients, equipment, and workstations for practical food lessons. Supporting teachers and students during lessons, providing guidance on safe and correct use of equipment. Maintaining and organising food preparation areas, equipment, and resources to ensure efficiency and safety. Ensuring compliance with health, hygiene, and safety regulations in all food preparation areas. Monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and managing storage to maintain continuity of lessons. Assisting with practical demonstrations, departmental projects, and food-related events. Ensuring all appliances, utensils, and equipment are clean, safe, and in working order. Candidate Requirements Previous experience in food preparation or as a Food Technician, ideally in an educational setting. Knowledge of food hygiene standards and health and safety regulations. Practical skills, attention to detail, and organisational ability. Reliability, flexibility, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
