Job description
A well-maintained secondary school in Oxford is seeking a reliable and proactive Premises Officer to join its facilities team. This is a full-time, permanent role, ideal for someone with practical skills, strong organisational abilities, and a commitment to ensuring a safe, clean, and fully operational school environment. The Premises Officer plays a key role in maintaining the school’s buildings and grounds to high standards, supporting teaching, extracurricular activities, and events. Role Responsibilities As a Premises Officer, your responsibilities will include: Maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and general upkeep of school buildings and grounds. Monitoring and reporting on the condition of premises, identifying maintenance needs and coordinating repairs. Supporting the setup and breakdown of school events, meetings, and extracurricular activities. Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, including fire safety and security procedures. Assisting with contractors, suppliers, and staff to ensure facilities operate efficiently. Managing inventory of consumables and maintenance equipment, reporting replenishment requirements. Performing minor maintenance tasks and assisting with larger repair projects where necessary. Candidate Requirements Previous experience in a premises, caretaker, or facilities role, ideally in a school setting. Practical skills in general maintenance, DIY, or building management. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe working practices. Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
