Job description
Location: St Albans School Status: Outstanding Ofsted Primary School Start Date: ASAP Start – Permanent, Full-Time Shift Pattern: Split shifts (e.g., 07:00–11:00 and 15:00–18:30) The Opportunity We are seeking a reliable and hardworking School Caretaker for a high-achieving Primary school in Hertfordshire. This is an essential role in a friendly, community-focused school. The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for all site issues, requiring a proactive approach to problem-solving and a dedication to student safety. Core Responsibilities Daily Site Checks: Ensuring the school gates, fences, and playgrounds are secure and free of hazards every morning. Winter Maintenance: Responsible for gritting paths and clearing snow during the winter months to ensure the school can remain open. Minor Installations: Assembling furniture, installing shelving, and assisting teachers with the display of student work in communal areas. Requirements & Compensation Essential: A friendly, approachable manner and a commitment to the school’s safeguarding protocols. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks. Salary: Competitive salary paid on the Hertfordshire County Council pay scale. Benefits: A supportive leadership team and a central role within a thriving local school community.
