Job description
A reputable secondary school in Bedford is seeking a reliable and skilled Caretaker to join their facilities team immediately. This Good Ofsted-rated mixed school educates approximately 1,000 students aged 11–18 and offers a friendly, professional working environment. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining the school’s buildings and grounds, performing general repairs, managing security, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. Responsibilities include unlocking and locking the site, maintaining classrooms and communal areas, basic maintenance, monitoring contractors, ensuring safe use of equipment, and supporting wider site operations as required. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in caretaking or facilities work, ideally within a school environment. A flexible, proactive attitude and commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and cleanliness are essential. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and joinery repairs would be advantageous.
