Job description
Are you a creative and innovative Food Technology Teacher with a passion for teaching practical skills and inspiring students to explore nutrition, cooking, and food science? A forward-thinking secondary school in Bournemouth is seeking a Food Technology Teacher to join its thriving Design & Technology faculty on a full-time, permanent basis from January 2026. You will teach Food Technology across KS3–KS5, helping students develop skills in culinary practice, food safety, and nutritional analysis, while encouraging creativity and teamwork. Location: Bournemouth, Dorset Start Date: January 2026 Salary: MPS/UPS (based on experience) About the School This 11–18 mixed academy educates approximately 1,200 pupils, including a Sixth Form of 280. It is known for strong academic outcomes, with over 72% of pupils achieving grades 9–5 in English and Maths at GCSE, and a reputation for valuing both creative and vocational pathways alongside traditional academic routes. The Food Technology Department is based in a purpose-built wing of the school, with professional-standard kitchens featuring individual student workstations, commercial ovens, mixers, and food science labs for nutritional experiments . Students benefit from links with local hospitality and catering industries, as well as competitions and masterclasses with professional chefs. Why This Role? Contribute to extracurricular clubs, charity events, and cooking competitions. The Ideal Candidate Will: Hold a degree in Food Technology or a related subject. Have QTS (PGCE or equivalent). Be confident teaching Food Technology at KS4 and KS5. Show creativity, practical knowledge, and strong classroom presence. Have the legal right to work in the UK.
