Chemistry Teacher | Top-Ranked Secondary School | Westminster An exceptional opportunity to join one of London's premier science departments and lead academic innovation. We are seeking a visionary Chemistry Teacher to join an elite, top-ranked secondary school in the heart of Westminster . This position is designed for an outstanding scientist and educator who is ready to contribute to a culture of high academic achievement and take on a significant leadership role through a substantial TLR (Teaching and Learning Responsibility) . The Snapshot Location: Westminster, Central London (Zone 1) Salary: Inner London MPS/UPS + £8,000 TLR (Academic Responsibility) Contract: Full-time, Permanent Start Date: September 2026 Curriculum Focus: Triple Science (GCSE) and A-Level Chemistry The Opportunity This is not a standard teaching post. As a Chemistry Teacher in this high-performing setting, you will be working with some of the most gifted young minds in the country. The school has a track record of sending students to Oxbridge and Ivy League universities , and the Science department is the engine room of this success. The £8,000 TLR is attached to an Academic Responsibility role, which could include: Leading the Chemistry Curriculum Development for KS5. Acting as a Lead Mentor for STEM-focused university admissions and Olympiad entries. Spearheading Interdisciplinary Research Projects across the Science faculty. The Environment Located within walking distance of the Houses of Parliament and prestigious scientific institutions, the school offers a stimulating intellectual atmosphere. The Chemistry labs are state-of-the-art, equipped for advanced practical work that exceeds the standard national curriculum requirements. You will work alongside a team of specialists who are committed to pedagogical excellence and academic rigour. Detailed Responsibilities Academic Excellence: Deliver intellectually stimulating lessons that challenge high-attaining students and foster a deep love for the chemical sciences. Leadership (TLR Role): Drive departmental standards, oversee internal assessments, and mentor junior staff or ECTs within the faculty. Enrichment: Lead high-level extracurricular clubs, such as the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Chemistry Olympiad or the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge . Practical Mastery: Ensure the highest standards of laboratory safety while delivering complex, undergraduate-level practical demonstrations. Candidate Profile Qualifications: A first-class or 2:1 degree in Chemistry (or a closely related field) and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) . Experience: A proven track record of delivering "Outstanding" results at A-Level. Previous experience in a leadership or coordination role is highly desirable. Vision: An educator who stays abreast of current scientific research and can integrate modern chemical developments into the classroom.
