Job description
A well-established independent preparatory school in Surrey is seeking a highly organised and discreet Personal Assistant to support the Headteacher and senior leadership team. Set within attractive grounds and known for its strong academic standards and nurturing ethos, the school educates pupils from Reception through to Year 6 and enjoys an excellent reputation locally. This is a pivotal role within a close-knit, high-performing environment where professionalism, confidentiality and efficiency are paramount. The Role As PA to the Headteacher, you will act as the primary point of contact for internal and external communications, ensuring that the Head’s time is managed effectively and that key operational matters are coordinated seamlessly. The position requires exceptional organisational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities and a calm, solutions-focused approach. Responsibilities include: • Managing the Headteacher’s diary, scheduling meetings and appointments • Acting as gatekeeper for communications and correspondence • Drafting and proofreading letters, reports and presentations • Coordinating Governors’ meetings, preparing agendas and taking minutes • Supporting HR documentation and senior leadership recruitment processes • Organising school events, including open days and parent briefings • Maintaining confidential records and safeguarding documentation • Liaising with parents, staff and external partners with professionalism The School Environment This independent preparatory school combines traditional values with modern expectations. Class sizes are small, communication is clear, and the culture is professional yet warm. The administrative team operates from a well-resourced office suite and works closely with teaching staff to ensure smooth daily operations. The school places significant importance on presentation, accuracy and high standards in communication — qualities that are reflected in its leadership support structure. What We’re Looking For • Proven experience as a PA or senior administrator, ideally within education • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Advanced IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion • Strong minute-taking and organisational skills • Professional manner and calm presence Why Join This School? • Prestigious independent setting with strong community reputation • Supportive and approachable leadership • Beautiful working environment and well-maintained facilities • Competitive salary reflective of experience • Opportunity to work closely with strategic leadership This role would suit an experienced administrator or PA who thrives in a structured yet dynamic environment and takes pride in supporting senior leadership at the highest level. If you are seeking a key operational position within a respected independent school, we would welcome your CV.
