Job description
A well-established and highly regarded independent school in Reading is seeking an experienced and proactive Site Manager to oversee the operational management of its premises. This is a key leadership role within the support structure of the school and is central to ensuring that the site remains safe, secure, compliant, and presented to a high standard at all times. The school operates within a well-maintained campus environment and places significant importance on site presentation, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will take ownership of daily operations while contributing to longer-term site planning and development. The Role Overseeing the day-to-day management of the school buildings and grounds Leading and supervising site and cleaning staff, including allocation of duties and performance oversight Ensuring full compliance with statutory health & safety regulations Maintaining accurate compliance records, including fire safety, water hygiene, and electrical systems Managing preventative maintenance programmes and coordinating reactive repairs Liaising with contractors and overseeing site works to ensure quality and safety standards Managing site security, key holding, and alarm systems Supporting the preparation and setup of school events, performances, and examinations Contributing to longer-term site improvement and refurbishment planning The Ideal Candidate Will Have Proven experience in site or premises management, ideally within an educational or multi-building environment Strong understanding of health & safety legislation and compliance frameworks Experience leading or supervising site teams Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills The ability to prioritise effectively within a busy operational setting A professional and proactive approach to maintaining high site standards School Information This independent school in Reading is known for its strong academic standards, excellent pastoral care, and well-maintained facilities.
