Job description
A prestigious Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ school in Oxford is looking to appoint a passionate and talented Music ECT to join its thriving Performing Arts Department from January 2026. This is an exciting full-time, permanent opportunity within a school that places the arts at the centre of its curriculum. About the Role The appointed candidate will teach Music across KS3–KS5 , nurturing students’ musical appreciation, creativity, and performance confidence. The school’s induction programme offers structured mentoring, observation opportunities, and access to subject-specific CPD designed to support ECTs in developing strong classroom practice and professional confidence. The post holder will contribute to both the classroom and the wider life of the school by leading ensembles, choirs, or music clubs , and helping coordinate the annual concerts and productions that form part of the school’s performing arts calendar. Key Responsibilities Teach engaging Music lessons that combine theory, performance, and composition. Use technology effectively for notation, recording, and mixing. Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level practical assessments. Direct or accompany school choirs, bands, or instrumental groups. Participate in the planning of school concerts, recitals, and musical theatre events. Engage in CPD and reflective practice as part of the ECT induction. About the School This 11–18 co-educational academy has a long-standing tradition of musical excellence. Facilities include a purpose-built recording studio, performance hall, and soundproof practice rooms . The Music Department is led by an experienced Head of Faculty who provides regular coaching and guidance for new teachers. The school works closely with local arts organisations and offers exciting opportunities for students to perform beyond the classroom. Experience and Qualifications Music degree and PGCE/PGDE with QTS. Strong performance skills (instrumental or vocal). A commitment to inclusive and engaging music education.
