Job description
Are you a creative and innovative Design and Technology Teacher eager to inspire students in an innovative secondary school in Hounslow? We are seeking a dedicated educator to join our dynamic DT department, starting April 2025. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking school and develop students' design and practical skills from a mid-year starting point. About Our Learning Community: Our innovative secondary school is committed to providing a cutting-edge education that fosters creativity, problem-solving, and practical skills. We encourage students to explore their design and technological potential. Our DT department is a collaborative team dedicated to delivering a relevant and engaging curriculum, adapted to a mid-year start. About the Role: Deliver engaging and challenging Design and Technology lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, following relevant examination specifications, and adapting to the needs of students joining mid-year. Plan and prepare high-quality lessons that cater to a variety of design and technological interests and abilities, ensuring all students are challenged and supported in their practical development, despite the mid-year commencement. Utilize a range of teaching methods and resources, including practical workshops, CAD/CAM software, and design projects, to enhance student learning and make the subject relevant to their lives. Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and support individual learning journeys, fostering a deep understanding of design and technological concepts and skills, and helping students integrate mid-year. Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Design and Technology examinations, ensuring they have a strong understanding of assessment criteria and technological methodologies, and providing targeted support for those joining mid-year. Contribute to the development of the DT curriculum and resources, integrating current technological trends and industry practices, and adapting to the school's needs for a mid-year transition. Foster a love of design and technology in students, encouraging them to develop their problem-solving, practical, and entrepreneurial skills. Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment, and to contribute to the wider academic and extracurricular life of the school, including participation in design challenges and technology clubs. Organize and lead design and technology projects, workshops, and visits to local industries, promoting hands-on learning and practical application of skills. Ideal Candidate: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. Strong subject knowledge in Design and Technology, including practical skills and CAD/CAM. Demonstrated ability to teach across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, including A-Level. Experience in preparing students for GCSE and A-Level Design and Technology examinations. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and practical skills. Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities, including those joining mid-year. A passion for design and technology and a commitment to fostering innovation and practical skills. Ability to organize and lead design and technology projects and workshops. Ability to work effectively as part of a team, and to quickly integrate into a school environment mid-year. Benefits: Full-time, permanent position, starting April 2025. Competitive salary (MPS/UPS + Outer London Weighting). Opportunity to work in an innovative and forward-thinking secondary school. Access to excellent DT facilities and resources. Opportunities for professional development and career progression, with support for mid-year integration. Contribute to a thriving DT department. To Apply: Please send your CV
