Job description
We are currently seeking an experienced, committed and forward-thinking SENCO to join a highly regarded and inclusive secondary school in Buckinghamshire. This is a full-time, permanent position starting January 2026, offering an excellent opportunity to lead and further develop SEND provision within a school known for its strong pastoral practice and high expectations. About the SEND Department The SEND team is well-established, collaborative and driven by a shared commitment to ensuring every student receives tailored support. The department benefits from: • A dedicated SEND base and intervention rooms • A skilled team of Teaching Assistants and specialist support staff • Strong systems for tracking progress, provision mapping and early identification • Excellent relationships with external agencies, therapists and the local authority • A leadership culture that prioritises inclusion across the curriculum The school is seeking a SENCO who can build on this strong foundation and continue to develop high-quality, evidence-informed SEND practice. About the Role As SENCO, your responsibilities will include: • Leading the strategic development of SEND provision across the school • Overseeing the identification and assessment of students with additional needs • Coordinating EHCP processes, reviews and statutory documentation • Supporting staff with differentiation, adaptive teaching and inclusive approaches • Line-managing Teaching Assistants and specialist support teams • Monitoring and tracking student progress, ensuring robust intervention plans • Working closely with parents, carers and external agencies to support individual learners • Contributing to whole-school CPD on SEND and inclusive teaching • Playing a key role in pastoral and safeguarding teams This is a highly influential position, ideal for a SENCO who is passionate about ensuring all students reach their full potential. Experience and Qualifications • Qualified SENCO (NASENCO) or close to completing the qualification • QTS (PGCE or equivalent) • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice • Experience leading SEND provision within a secondary school • Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills • Commitment to inclusive education and evidence-based practice Salary Paid to scale – MPS/UPS + TLR (depending on experience).
