Job description
A highly respected independent co-educational school in Chelmsford is seeking an experienced and ambitious Director of Sixth Form Business to lead its growing Business provision. The school has a strong academic profile, excellent university progression rates and a culture that encourages leadership, enterprise and independent thought. Business is one of the most popular A-Level subjects within the Sixth Form, with students regularly progressing to leading universities to study Business Management, Economics, Finance and related disciplines. The Role This is a senior academic leadership role combining strategic oversight of Sixth Form Business with high-quality A-Level teaching. You will be responsible for curriculum design, academic standards and the continued growth of the subject within the post-16 offer. Your responsibilities will include: • Teaching A-Level Business • Leading curriculum development and assessment planning • Monitoring student progress and driving examination performance • Supporting university and apprenticeship applications • Developing links with local businesses and guest speakers • Contributing to whole-school Sixth Form strategy Leadership time is built into the role to allow for strategic development and enrichment planning. The Business Department Business sits within a strong Social Sciences faculty. The Sixth Form provision is academically rigorous and focused on preparing students for competitive university entry and professional pathways. Who We’re Looking For The successful candidate will: • Hold QTS or equivalent qualification • Demonstrate strong A-Level Business teaching experience • Have previous leadership experience (Head of Subject or similar) • Show strategic vision for Sixth Form development • Be committed to academic excellence and enrichment Independent school experience is desirable but not essential for a strong leadership candidate.
