Job description
A large and well-established secondary school in Leeds is seeking an experienced and highly organised Facilities Manager to oversee the operational management of the school’s premises and support services. This is a senior support role within the school and is central to ensuring that the site operates safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with statutory requirements. The school benefits from a substantial campus with a range of specialist facilities, and the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards across all areas of the estate. The Role Leading the day-to-day management of the school’s facilities and site operations Ensuring full compliance with health & safety legislation and statutory regulations Managing planned preventative maintenance programmes and reactive repairs Overseeing contractors, service-level agreements, and procurement processes Managing facilities budgets and monitoring expenditure against forecasts Line managing site and cleaning teams, including scheduling and performance oversight Ensuring accurate compliance documentation is maintained and audit-ready Supporting the coordination of school events, lettings, and large-scale activities Contributing to long-term facilities planning and site development strategy The Ideal Candidate Will Have Significant experience in facilities or estates management Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and compliance frameworks Experience managing contractors and service agreements Proven ability to lead and organise operational teams Strong organisational and financial management skills The ability to prioritise effectively within a busy educational setting A proactive and solutions-focused approach School Information This secondary school in Leeds is recognised for its structured leadership, clear expectations, and strong operational systems.
