Job description
Role Category & Location Sector: High-Achieving Local Authority Secondary School. Borough: Brent (Inner London, England). Start Date: Permanent, full-time role commencing January 2026. The Opportunity & Role Profile This successful secondary school requires a highly organized and skilled Science Technician to provide essential support to the Science faculty. The role involves preparing practical apparatus and chemicals across all three sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, ensuring safe and inspiring hands-on learning. Core Responsibilities & Duties Scope Lab Preparer: Setting up apparatus, preparing chemical solutions, and organizing biological materials for daily practical lessons and examinations (GCSE). Safety Champion: Ensuring strict compliance with CLEAPSS and school safety guidelines, managing chemical storage, and maintaining a secure lab environment. Resource Coordinator: Assisting the Senior Technician with inventory management, basic maintenance of equipment, and stock ordering. Compensation & Benefits Essential Requirements: Previous experience as a Science Technician or relevant scientific qualification/background, with a strong commitment to laboratory safety. Salary: Competitive salary paid on the local government scale, reflecting Inner London weighting. Support: Generous Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and a collaborative Science team.
