Job description
ECT History Teacher required full-time from January 2026 Co-educational independent day & boarding school (ages 3–18) in Herefordshire Join a highly regarded History / Humanities department with strong heritage We are seeking a motivated Early Career History Teacher to join a distinguished independent school in Herefordshire. You will teach History across KS3 & KS4, and have the opportunity to support or develop A-Level History depending on experience. You will benefit from a structured ECT induction, mentoring, and a supportive staff culture in a school with deep academic and cultural traditions. This role is open to newly qualified teachers or those early in their career who hold a recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent) and have the legal right to work in the UK. Experience & Qualifications ECT History Teacher (PGCE or equivalent completed) Strong subject knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for teaching History Ability to engage and challenge learners of varying ability levels Reflective, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement Legal right to work in the UK School Information The school is a co-educational independent day and boarding institution serving ages 3–18. It traces its origins back over a thousand years, originally as a cathedral school. In 2024, about 92.6% of GCSE entries achieved grade 4 or above, and 81.8% achieved grade 5 or above . The school is well known for its strong arts, music and humanities programmes, small class sizes, and a close, supportive community atmosphere.
