Job description
We are seeking an innovative, practical and highly motivated Design Technology ECT who is keen to deliver engaging, hands-on and industry-relevant learning experiences to students. As a Design Technology Teacher , this role will involve teaching within a successful and well-resourced DT department across KS4 and KS5 , supported by excellent facilities, technical staff, and an experienced leadership team. This is a superb opportunity for a Newly Qualified DT Teacher to build confidence, develop strong classroom practice, and grow professionally within an Outstanding environment. You will have the opportunity to teach across a range of DT specialisms, contribute to curriculum development, and be actively involved in practical projects, competitions, and enrichment opportunities. The department is extremely well regarded within the school and plays a key role in developing students’ technical, creative and problem-solving skills. It has a reputation for high expectations, excellent behaviour and strong outcomes across both academic and vocational subjects. The DT department benefits from modern workshops, up-to-date equipment and full technician support. The school provides outstanding ECT support, including reduced teaching timetables, weekly mentoring, structured CPD programmes, and regular observation with developmental feedback. Staff are encouraged to grow, innovate and contribute to whole-school development. Experience and Qualifications Degree in Design Technology or a related subject PGCE with QTS Training to teach DT to KS4/5 Strong practical, organisational and classroom management skills Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality practical learning Salary The salary for this Design Technology ECT position will be paid to scale in line with MPS1 .
