Caretaker – Independent Secondary School – Cheltenham Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School Information This well-established independent 11–18 secondary school in Cheltenham is known for its high standards, beautiful campus grounds, and well-maintained facilities. The school combines strong academic performance with excellent pastoral care and prides itself on providing a safe, welcoming, and professional learning environment. The site includes modern classroom blocks, specialist facilities, sports grounds, and historic buildings. Maintaining these facilities to a high standard is essential to the school’s success. The school is seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to support the smooth and safe operation of the premises. Role Overview The Caretaker will take responsibility for site maintenance, health and safety, and security. Key responsibilities include: Opening and closing the school site Carrying out routine maintenance tasks Conducting health and safety checks Responding to maintenance requests Monitoring site security and CCTV Liaising with contractors Supporting school events Ensuring compliance with safety regulations Managing minor repairs Maintaining outdoor areas The role requires flexibility and a practical skill set. Site Team The Caretaker works alongside the Site Manager and cleaning staff to ensure high standards of site presentation and safety. Candidate Requirements Experience in site maintenance or caretaking Basic maintenance and DIY skills Knowledge of health and safety procedures Reliable and punctual Good problem-solving ability Ability to work independently Commitment to safeguarding Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
