Job description
An established and well-regarded 11–18 secondary school in Leicester is seeking to appoint a committed and inspiring Teacher of English to join its successful English faculty. The school has a strong academic ethos and a clear focus on literacy across the curriculum, resulting in steady improvements in GCSE outcomes and a culture where reading and writing are genuinely valued. The Role You will teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of Key Stage 5 depending on experience. The department has embedded structured essay frameworks, retrieval practice and guided reading strategies that support consistency across year groups. The Department The English team is collaborative and reflective, meeting regularly to review assessment data and refine teaching approaches. Moderation and joint planning are routine, and new staff are supported through mentoring and informal peer observation. Students are accustomed to clear routines and high expectations. Extended writing is a regular feature of lessons, and literacy is reinforced across subjects through whole-school initiatives.
