Job description
A prestigious independent 11–18 school in Bournemouth is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Maths ECT to join its thriving Mathematics Department from January 2026 . This is a full-time, permanent position offering an exceptional opportunity for an Early Career Teacher to begin their teaching journey in a highly supportive and academically ambitious environment. Key Details Role: Maths ECT (KS3–KS5; GCSE/A-Level) Start: January 2026 | Contract: Permanent, full-time School: Independent, 11–18, Bournemouth Suitability: Early Career Teachers (ECTs) Exam Boards: Edexcel/AQA/OCR (advantageous) About the School This established independent school, with around 900 pupils , is renowned for its academic excellence, individualised support, and strong pastoral care . The school provides a stimulating environment where both students and teachers are encouraged to excel. The Mathematics Department is well-resourced, innovative, and highly collaborative. Small class sizes allow for personalised teaching and excellent student engagement. ECTs benefit from a structured induction programme , dedicated mentoring, and continuous professional development tailored to support their growth and confidence in the classroom. The Role – What You’ll Do Deliver engaging and well-structured Mathematics lessons across KS3–KS5 . Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations in line with department schemes of work. Track and assess pupil progress, providing constructive feedback to help students reach their potential. Contribute to departmental planning and participate in enrichment activities such as Maths Clubs and UKMT Challenges . Uphold the school’s commitment to academic excellence, inclusion, and student wellbeing. Person Specification (Essential) Degree in Mathematics or a closely related field. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards it. Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for teaching Mathematics. Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills. Commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare.
