This Year 2 Teacher role will be fully involved in planning before January 2026, will attend induction in January 2026, and will teach from January 2026. *** Year 2 Teacher Merton *** Year 2 Teacher January 2026 *** Year 2 Teacher Permanent Role Role summary - Year 2 Teacher The Year 2 Teacher will lead a Year 2 class, planning sequenced reading, writing and mathematics units as the Year 2 Teacher. The Year 2 Teacher will implement systematic phonics, close gaps through targeted interventions and prepare pupils for a confident transition to Key Stage 2. The Year 2 Teacher will prepare assessment evidence in cycles beginning after January 2026 and will moderate with colleagues. Year 2 Teacher Requirements • QTS/PGCE (or equivalent) and demonstrable KS1 experience as the Year 2 Teacher. • Secure phonics delivery and small-group teaching skills as the Year 2 Teacher. • Commitment to multi-disciplinary work with inclusion staff; availability for planning before January 2026, induction in January 2026, and classroom start from January 2026 is required. Year 2 Teacher Responsibilities • Plan and deliver high-quality English and maths lessons as the Year 2 Teacher. • Use assessment to personalise learning and run booster groups as the Year 2 Teacher. • Liaise with parents and external partners as the Year 2 Teacher. The Year 2 Teacher will also contribute to curriculum development and school events following the January 2026 start. Why apply?
