Job description
Exams Officer – Independent School – Nottingham Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School Information This well-regarded 11–18 independent school in Nottingham is known for its outstanding academic results, exceptional pastoral care, and meticulous organisation of all assessment and qualification processes. With GCSE, A Level, and a range of vocational qualifications offered, the school requires an Exams Officer with excellent administrative ability and meticulous attention to detail. The Role The school is seeking an experienced, organised, and reliable Exams Officer to coordinate all aspects of internal and external examinations. This role is critical in ensuring that all assessments run smoothly, securely, and in line with JCQ regulations. You will oversee the entire exam cycle—from planning and entries to rooming, invigilation, results day, and post-results services. The successful candidate must have excellent organisation, strong communication, and the ability to work under pressure during busy exam periods. Key Responsibilities • Managing all examination entries, registrations, amendments, and withdrawals • Ensuring full compliance with JCQ regulations and awarding-body requirements • Producing exam timetables, seating plans, and invigilation schedules • Recruiting, training, and supervising teams of invigilators • Managing secure storage and handling of all exam materials • Preparing exam rooms, resources, and documentation • Coordinating access arrangements in collaboration with the SENDCo • Managing internal assessments and mock exam logistics • Overseeing the results process, including downloads, distribution, and candidate support • Managing post-results services (e.g., reviews of marking, script requests) • Maintaining meticulous administrative and data records • Liaising with staff, students, parents, and exam boards Person Specification • Experience as an Exams Officer or similar role • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail • Strong understanding of JCQ regulations • Ability to work to tight deadlines • Excellent communication and data-handling skills • Confidence in managing staff such as invigilators • High levels of professionalism, integrity, and reliability Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
