Job description
A successful 11–18 secondary school in Leeds is seeking an enthusiastic and reflective Early Career Teacher of Geography to join its established Humanities faculty. The school serves a broad catchment across the city and has built a strong reputation for improving GCSE outcomes, consistent behaviour systems and a culture of professional collaboration. Geography is a well-supported subject within the school, with healthy GCSE uptake and growing interest in Sixth Form study. The department focuses on building strong core knowledge, exam technique and real-world application through carefully sequenced curriculum planning. The Opportunity This role offers an excellent starting point for a Geography ECT seeking structured guidance and clear professional development pathways. The school operates a comprehensive ECT induction programme, combining subject mentoring with whole-school CPD. You will: • Teach Geography across KS3 and KS4 • Deliver lessons using shared, well-sequenced schemes of work • Develop confidence in fieldwork preparation and case study delivery • Refine assessment and feedback strategies with mentor support • Participate in faculty planning meetings and professional learning sessions The department ensures that ECTs have access to high-quality teaching materials and consistent assessment frameworks. The Geography Department Geography sits within a cohesive Humanities faculty alongside History and RE. Staff collaborate regularly to ensure curriculum alignment and share best practice.
