Job description
History ECT required January 2026 Mixed secondary school based in Witham History ECT to join a reflective, supportive and well-resourced Humanities department Our Client is seeking a History ECT to teach KS3 and KS4 within a highly structured secondary school in Witham. The successful candidate will deliver enquiry-based lessons supported by shared curriculum plans, modelled assessments and clear progression routes across year groups. The role is well suited to an ECT wanting to strengthen subject knowledge and develop confident classroom practice. School Information This 11–18 school serves approximately 1,300 pupils and is recognised for consistent examination outcomes, strong teaching standards and a highly effective pastoral framework. The History department delivers a carefully sequenced curriculum that builds historical interpretation, analytical writing and independent research skills. Teaching spaces are well equipped with digital learning tools and historical source materials. ECTs benefit from a highly supportive induction structure, including reduced teaching commitment, coaching cycles, peer observations and frequent developmental feedback. Staff describe the school as organised, respectful and focused on continuous improvement. Leadership encourages collaboration across departments and actively supports teacher development.
