Job description
A creative and forward-thinking secondary school in Loughborough is seeking a passionate and inspiring Art Teacher to join its successful Art Department. This is a full-time, permanent role suitable for experienced teachers or Early Career Teachers who are committed to fostering creativity and artistic excellence. About the School The school has a strong academic reputation and places equal importance on creative expression and cultural development. The Art Department is well-established and offers a broad curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities for Key Stage 5 teaching. Students explore a range of disciplines including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and mixed media, supported by well-equipped studios and dedicated exhibition spaces. The department benefits from collaborative planning, strong technical support, and a culture that values innovation in teaching and curriculum design. Student work is regularly showcased through exhibitions and community projects, celebrating creativity and achievement. The Role The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging Art lessons that inspire students of all abilities. Key responsibilities include: Planning and delivering high-quality Art lessons aligned with the national curriculum and GCSE/A-Level specifications. Encouraging experimentation, independent thinking, and development of technical skills. Preparing students for coursework and examination assessments. Providing constructive feedback to support progress and attainment. Maintaining a safe, organised, and stimulating studio environment. Contributing to curriculum development and departmental initiatives. Supporting extracurricular activities such as art clubs, competitions, and exhibitions. Candidate Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Strong subject knowledge and practical expertise in Art. Excellent classroom management skills. Ability to inspire creativity and confidence in students. Understanding of health and safety within an art studio setting. Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
