Job description
A creative and forward-thinking 11–18 school in Northampton is seeking a motivated Design Technology Technician to support its busy and high-performing DT department from January 2026 . About the Role You’ll provide technical and practical support to teachers and students across Resistant Materials, Product Design and Engineering. Responsibilities include preparing materials, maintaining tools and machinery, assisting during practical lessons, and ensuring safe working practices throughout the workshops. The role requires someone with excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach to supporting both staff and learners. The School This Good-rated school has a thriving DT faculty equipped with modern workshops, 3D printers, laser cutters and CNC machinery. Staff describe the department as “busy, friendly and creative,” and students regularly take part in local design competitions and exhibitions. About You Background in design, engineering, carpentry or similar field. Understanding of workshop safety and tool maintenance. Strong practical skills and an organised approach.
